A website by a doctor taking anticoagulants himself; offering trustworthy medical information and light-hearted support and reassurance. Enjoy life on anticoagulants.
Congratulations on reaching Coagulation Conversation on its launch day. Grab a cuppa and settle in to enjoy our first posts. Then become a regular reader by signing up and share us on facebook so others can join the fun too.
You’ll get our Medical Monday and Frivolous Friday posts, plus quizzes, real-life stories and the on-going, ‘David Clotterfield Saga’ about two people on warfarin and the beliefs and misunderstandings they have about coagulation. Of course we are no substitute for your regular doctor and can’t offer individual medical management.
Coagulation Conversation will be helpful not only to the 6,000 New Zealanders managing warfarin through the CPAMS pharmacy service or by self-testing, but to everyone on anticoagulants, no matter where you live or what treatment you are on.
People on anticoagulants include
- those who didn’t even feel unwell and now just have to add one more medication to their already long list – this is true for many people with atrial fibrillation, which is the commonest reason for being on anticoagulants
- those who had severe chest pain and shortness of breath, ending up in intensive care, almost dying from a massive pulmonary embolus (blood clot in the lung)
Whichever end of the spectrum your symptoms may be; we’re excited to have you as one of our readers.
